Veneers Q&A

What are veneers?

Veneers are thin shells that are shaped like the front side of a tooth. The team at Mosaic Dental bonds them to the front side of any teeth whose appearance you’d like to improve. The veneer functions like a mask and covers up any cosmetic flaws in your teeth.

Veneers are typically made from porcelain or composite resin, both of which have a similar color and translucency as your tooth enamel. This means that your veneer looks just like a natural tooth once it’s sealed in place.

The only difference is that it will look flawless and beautiful, and will help you build the smile you’ve always wanted.

What conditions can veneers treat?

Veneers are effective in improving a wide range of cosmetic concerns, including:

  • Cracked, chipped, or fractured teeth
  • Teeth that are significantly worn down
  • Stains or discoloration that hasn’t responded to professional whitening treatments
  • Misshapen or oddly sized teeth
  • Teeth that are too far apart or too close together

Veneers are built for each individual tooth, giving you the freedom to choose exactly how many veneers you want for your smile. You can use veneers to improve the appearance of a single tooth or you can get an entire set to entirely redesign your smile.

What happens when I get veneers?

When you get veneers at Mosaic Dental, the team starts by removing a very thin layer of enamel from your teeth. This enables the veneers to lay flush against your gums and look more natural. Because the veneers are so thin, the team only needs to remove a minimal amount of enamel.

Once your teeth are prepared, the team uses a digital scanner to take an impression of your mouth, which an offsite lab uses as a model for fabricating your veneers. You wear a set of temporary veneers during this part of the process, which typically takes about a week.

You come back to Mosaic Dental for a second appointment when your permanent veneers are back from the lab. The team checks the fit and appearance to make sure they look and feel right, then seals them in place with dental cement to give you a stunning new smile.
